Threads Used for Making String Jewellery

One of the most creative industries that has grown significantly during the past several decades is jewellery designing or making. People who have the talent for designing distinctive earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are now more likely to study this professionally and pursue it as a full-time career.

Most women today are rather fond of handmade jewellery. These are preferred over the classic gold or kundan ornaments. Some of the factors contributing to this rise in popularity are the statement jewellery's light weight and large range of accessible styles. They are so comfortable to wear in regular days also. As women generally prefer to wear them on daily basis, so to maintain the quality of the goods manufactured, hand-crafted string jewellery is meticulously made with the best materials.

The first material which comes in mind when we start jewellery making is a good quality string (thread). The component that ties all of your jewellery pieces together once they are created is referred to as stringing material or a string or thread. It is an essential part of jewellery production since it holds your finished product together and makes sure it is robust.

The threads which are frequently used in string jewellery making (designing) are as follows:

Silk Thread: Pearls and other beads look best strung on silk thread. It is a great string of pearl necklaces. You can also work with larger bead holes because this material is available in thicker diameters also. There are 13 different diameters of this silk thread, ranging from 0.3 to 1.05 millimetres, and many different colours. So you can work with both, the small and large bead holes.

Silk thread is wonderfully silky and velvety, yet it also gives your designs strength. Using silk thread to make necklaces enables your design to drape naturally, producing a chic and lovely effect. We can also use this material to decorate our jewellery which looks so classic and elegant, due to shine and colours the silk threads have.

Elastic Thread: For inexpensive beaded jewellery designs, elastic is a popular threading material, especially at the beginning of your jewellery making journey when little experience is required. This stretchy rope, which is typically clear, is excellent for making bracelets and is simply attached with a knot and adhesive.

Memory Wire: Memory wire is another one of our favourites! This is a fantastic material that makes it simple to produce eye-catching bracelets, chokers, and even rings with one or several loops. It is a thick, robust pre-coiled wire that maintains its shape and works well when combined with your preferred metal and gemstone beads.

Flex-Rite Wire: For floating bead necklace designs, hanging pendants, and general string jewellery to add shine and glimmer, Flex-Rite jewellery wire is fantastic. It is made up of several stainless steel strands covered in nylon, giving your designs strength while preventing kinking and maintaining flexibility. To fit your ideas, it is also offered in a variety of hues and sizes.

Fireline Thread: It works well with a wide range of beads, including pearls, metal seed beads, bugle beads, crystals, gemstone beads, and off-loom bead weaving. Fireline by is a superb beading thread. It is a strong, delicate thread that works well with beads that have tiny holes. Another benefit of this string is that it is UV protected, so unlike some other materials, it won't decay with exposure to sunshine. It also resists tangling, stretching, and abrasion from sharp beads.

Hemp Cord: A natural, biodegradable, and environmentally responsible option for bead stringing material is hemp cord. Hemp is a sturdy, adaptable material that works well for macramé, kumihimo, bracelet and necklace cord knotting as well as other crafts like card making, hang tags, gardening, and packaging, to mention a few. Hemp cord comes in a variety of colours and is great for texture enthusiasts. Our favourite approach to finish designs is with a sliding knot.
